Hormonal health usually follows the same curve. So simply explained it can be a smooth simple transition or a hard more troublesome transition
Smooth
So if you had healthy pain free periods and easy conception ( if you decided to have children) then you could expect a simple, smooth menopause.
Hard
If your hormonal health or that of a close family member is more troublesome then your transition may not be as smooth
Q: What can I do to improve my hormonal health (aka I don’t want to experience hard menopause symptoms)
A: Natural balancing of your hormonal system and a little self-care dramatically improve your chance of a smooth transition
Why do Women experience Menopause – (in a nutshell)
Around the age of 50, the ovaries stop producing estrogens.
The adrenal glands (small organs on top of each kidney) continue to make estrogens, as does fat tissue but the blood levels of estrogens drop.
Progesterone levels decline dramatically after your last period, as there is no corpus luteum/empty follicle to produce it.
So both hormones decline but progesterone declines much more than oestrogen. It is the extreme deficiency of progesterone that leads to what is commonly called oestrogen dominance.
It is this hormone imbalance that causes the majority of symptoms
